Walk, ride or run a different trail every Sunday in October! The month of October is ideal for exercising outside ~ the temperatures are cool and the colors are spectacular. Walktober makes the most of this great season by inviting participants on a tour of autumn’s most vibrant landscapes and inspiring everyone to make movement a priority!! Dogs on leashes are welcome. Commemorative Walktober buttons, designed by artist Kevin Worley, for the first 200 participants at each location. Attend all five events and collect all five designs!  Date: Sunday, October 31, 2021 Time: 1-3 p.m. (NOTE TIME) Location: Union Cemetery, 227 E. 28th Terrace A BONUS fifth Walktober in a cemetery on Halloween!!! A festive AFTERNOON event especially for families. Be sure and wear a costume to collect treats as you walk around the peaceful and historic Midtown cemetery. Established in 1857, Union Cemetery was located between Westport and the town of Kansas and used by both towns, becoming a “union” between the two.  Union Cemetery Map>> Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation provides facilities, programs and recreational opportunities for the community that contribute to an aesthetically pleasing environment and enhanced quality of life. The department maintains 221 parks, 12,242 acres of parkland, 158 miles of trails and bikeways, 29 lakes, hundreds of athletic fields and tennis courts, 103 playgrounds, and five public golf courses.  Miles of scenic boulevards and parkways crisscross the city, where 48 fountains and 122 monuments and sculptures surprise and delight. Ten community centers, along with eight museums, provide the setting for socially equitable and community-driven programming.
