A specialized event introducing students in Miami to the many career opportunities in the construction industry. About This unique event brings together students, industry leaders, and the Miami community to help the diverse young leaders of tomorrow discover, explore, and pursue opportunities in construction. By participating in the renovation of a local Target store, students will have the chance to learn about the varied career paths that exist in construction – from planning and project management to design and field work. Presented by ConstructReach, a workforce development, diversity, and inclusion consultancy, “I Built This!” events provide a platform for construction companies, educators, students, household brand names, and the surrounding community to gather for a day filled with learning, fun, and promise. Students, general contractors, educators, and brands throughout the Miami area are invited to network and learn; scholarships and job and internship opportunities will be available. Those unable to attend the event in-person are invited to participate virtually. Agenda Participants have the option of attending one or both days of the event. All state and national CDC guidelines will be followed. Masks are mandatory for all event participants and facilitators. Individually packaged snacks and lunches will be provided to all attendees. October 5-6, 2021: Miami “I Built This!” 9:00am – 2:00pm EDT Students will work hands-on with general contractors and other industry professionals on a variety of projects related to the renovation of a local Target store, and will have the chance to learn about internship and job opportunities in construction From introductions to local construction employers to conversations around the incredible amount of opportunity currently available in construction, this event is centered around the empowerment of young, diverse people within Miami.
