High: 83 Low: 58. Here are the top stories today in Madison: A group of Madison women created a running group in an effort to make the sport more inclusive and diverse. Joanne Yee, Melissa Carr and Uchenna Jones are the founders of Soles United. The group has meetings over Zoom as well as a Facebook group to connect runners within the community. (Cap Times) A man who was shot several times at Penn Park died. The 64 year old shot on Labor Day and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. (Wisconsin State Journal)The State Archive Preservation Facility holds thousands of unique and significant artifacts throughout Wisconsin's state history. Some of these include Civil War uniforms, a Wienermobile and an X-ray machine. (Isthmus) Madison Memorial High School is considering a name change. The renaming has been considered since last August when a former Memorial student called on the board to rename it because James Madison was a former slave owner. The board is holding a public hearing on Sept. 29 to discuss the final four names which include: Vel Phillips Memorial High School, Darlene M.
