Are you looking for a company with growth potential where you can build a career in the trades? The apprentice glazier is an entry level position assisting the Lead & Journeyman Glaziers with the installation of insulated glass units, replacement windows, shower enclosures, mirrors, and other residential & commercial glazing work. You will start your training in our shop, learning to handle glass, cut glass, organize materials and make repairs. Within 6-12 months you will be out on jobsites assisting the glazier crews! DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Follow all directions given by lead/journeymen glaziers regarding safety, installation, proper workmanship, jobsite etiquette, timeliness, organization and use of tools/materials, etc • Measure and install a variety of glazing materials under direction and supervision. • Learning fabrication methods of glass, mirrors, and storefront faming. • Learning repair and installation methods for residential and commercial glazing o Cut and replace broken window/storefront glass, install IG units o Door repair; installation of sliding glass door rollers and track covers, commercial pivots and closers, installation of new sash balancers in windows, etc • Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities * Ability to read a tape measure, and perform simple construction math, ie: adding measurements • Willingness to actively learn the trade by watching installations, participating through following directions, and asking questions when there is clarity needed. • Ability to independently travel to various worksites, as assigned. • High attention to detail. • Excellent customer service skills, positive attitude. • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. • Ability to write simple correspondence such as accurately completing time cards, and writing up necessary job information. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. • Ability to deal with problems involving jobsite variables and adapt with learned solutions. Education and/or Experience • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) • One to three months related experience and/or training • Equivalent combination of education and experience
