LEESBURG, VA — A new livestream camera has been installed overlooking the nest of two bald eagles in the Dulles Greenway Wetlands. The camera's installation was a joint effort between TRIP II, who owns the Dulles Greenway, the American Eagle Foundation, Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy, and HDOnTap. The livestream is live now, but the nest is currently empty. The eagles are expected to return to the nest in November. Renée Hamilton is the CEO of TRIP II. "We are excited to offer our local community the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Wetland's majestic bald eagles," Hamilton said. "The Dulles Greenway is dedicated to actively caring for our local community and environment through our key sustainability initiatives, including the protection and support of the Wetlands and its' wildlife." The Dulles Greenway Wetlands were established by TRIP II in 1995, in an effort to mitigate the loss of 64 acres of federally protected wetlands. The private 149-acre Dulles Greenway Wetlands is managed by the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and used primarily for wildlife education. "We appreciate the Dulles Greenway's efforts to bring the awe and wonder of wildlife into people's homes with this new eagle cam," Michael Myers, Executive Director of the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy, said. "This is an incredible opportunity to connect people in a new way to bald eagles living in the heart of Loudoun County." The two American Bald Eagles have nested in the Dulles Greenway Wetlands since 2005. The organizations involved in the installation of the camera hope that it allows for a unique insight into the movement and lives of the eagles. Jessica Hall is the executive director of the American Eagle Foundation. "Livestream camera programs create unprecedented opportunities to educate the public on the habitats and behaviors of bald eagles," Hall said. "This new camera located in the Dulles Greenway Wetlands offers a unique and exciting new educational viewing experience." The camera's stream is already live, and it will feature a moderated chat function for viewers to ask questions about the eagles.
