Press release from Cecil County Government: 07/22/2021   FY 2022 VIDEO LOTTERY TERMINAL LOCAL COMMUNITY GRANT PROGRAM   Elkton, MD: Cecil County Executive Danielle Hornberger is pleased to announce the recipients of the competitive fiscal year (FY) 2022 Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) Local Community grants.  The purpose of the VLT Local Community Grant Program is to provide local nonprofit and state, county, and municipal government agencies funding to address the needs of the community in the priority areas noted in Cecil County's Strategic Plan: Economic Development, Education, Infrastructure, and Safe, Healthy and Active Communities. This competitive grant program is funded via a portion of VLT revenues from the Hollywood Casino in Perryville.   The VLT Grant Review Committee reviewed 65 grant applications from 56 local Cecil County organizations. A total of 47 organizations split $400,000 comprising 52 grant applications.  Please note that organizations receiving two awards submitted applications addressing two different Purpose Areas, as allowed in the application instructions.   "Cecil County Government is pleased to award VLT grants to these local organizations", stated County Executive Hornberger. "These grants will be used for a variety of projects and programs, ranging from youth services and public safety, to helping those in recovery, to supporting our County's seniors and veterans."   The Review Committee carefully considers and rates each application based on criteria to include the following: completeness of submission, goals and objectives, overall budget, population to be served, and measurable outcomes.  In an effort to assist local organizations to submit successful proposals, the Department of Community Services (DCS) hosted an informational meeting on May 5, 2021 for applicants interested in learning more about the VLT grant process.    DCS Director David Trolio stated, "Every year the selection process becomes increasingly difficult due to the quantity and quality of proposals submitted. This year's process was no different and I applaud both the applicants for their inspired proposals as well as the review team for their commitment to the evaluation process."    Organization                                                                                                 Award   ANT's Army – Foster Youth Supplies                                                             $5,800 Bayside Community Network – Camp Care                                                 $2,000 Bayside Community Network – Transportation                                          $10,000 Boys & Girls Club of Cecil County, MD – Club on the Go                            $10,000 CASA of Cecil County – Mobile CASA Youth Program                                  $7,000 Cecil College Foundation – Completion Scholarships                                  $10,000 Cecil College Foundation – Electrician Training Program                             $7,052 Cecil County Arts Council – Historical Building Repairs                                $7,430 Cecil County Community Mediation Center – Attendance Mediation and Truancy Diversion                                                                                        $10,000 Cecil County Health Department – Healthy Lifestyle Assistance Program $2,000 Cecil County Memorial VFW – Post 6027 – Hall Infrastructure                     $10,000 Cecil County Men's Shelter, Inc. – Homeless Services for Men                     $8,000 Cecil County Neighborhood Youth Panel- Youth Diversion Services           $8,000 Cecil Pregnancy and Family Resource Center – Expand Staff/Services        $6,000 Chesapeake City Ecumenical Association – Generation Station                    $10,000 Chesapeake Feline Association, Inc. – Cat Spay/Neuter Program                  $8,000 Chesapeake Health Education Program, Inc.
