Description

All In for Milford, a grassroots alliance of community leaders and neighborhood organizations, announces today that it will be hosting a virtual public forum about how to distribute the $13 million allocated to the city of Milford through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). With this forum, the group hopes to extend the public conversation about how to use ARPA funds beyond the city's seven-day online comment period last month, to ensure that all community members have an equal opportunity to make their voices heard before funds are officially allocated. Everyone in town is encouraged to bring ideas on how Milford can use these funds most effectively to further community priorities. Federal and local government representatives will be present to answer questions and offer their perspective. "We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to inform and impact who Milford is and what we stand for following the COVID-19 global pandemic. With targeted investments, our community can end hunger, housing instability and create the future we wish to see for the next generation," explains Jennifer Paradis, executive director of Beth-El Center and member of All In for Milford. "How we get to this point is most important. We need everyone's voices and experiences to be heard. We hope that many will join us for this important evening." During this event, Milford residents will have an opportunity to learn more about what ARPA funds can be used for, comment on existing proposals, share their own ideas, and take part in the planning process. The public forum will take place in Zoom on Monday, September 27, 2021, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Residents can register at www.allinformilford.org/arpa.
