'Justice For J6 Rally' To Be Held In Trenton On Saturday

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A Washington DC-based group has announced a "Justice For J6 Rally" in Trenton on Saturday, Sept. 25. The rally follows a similar demonstration held on Sept. 18 outside the U.S. Capitol. According to the organizers, Looking Ahead America (LAA), the purpose of the rally is to "oppose the tyrannical and inhumane treatment of the January 6 political prisoners who have been targeted by the Department of Justice and the FBI." On Jan. 6 rioters stormed the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., to disrupt the counting of electoral votes confirming Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election. Four people were killed during the riots, and five police officers died following the attack. Officer Brian Sicknick who grew up in South River suffered two strokes and died of natural causes the day after the riot. To support those arrested for rioting, the organization has coordinated "Justice for J6" rallies at other U.S. cities either on Sept. 18 or 25 or Oct. 2. The New Jersey rally will be held on Sept. 25 at the State Capitol Annex, in Trenton, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The group has a permit for the rally, according to New Jersey State Police (NJSP) officials. Currently, there are no road closures or traffic diversions planned for the day, NJSP said. "The purpose of these peaceful protests is for patriotic Americans to educate their state legislators on the power they have to give instructions to their state's federal legislators," LAA Executive Director Matt Braynard said in a statement. "We have composed a draft resolution a state legislature can pass to inform US Senators and Representative to oppose the tyrannical and inhumane treatment of the January 6 political prisoners who have been targeted by the Department of Justice and the FBI." In August, the group along with Citizens Against Political Persecution filed a complaint with the United Nations Human Rights Committee, calling for an investigation into the treatment of the Jan. 6 rioters while detained.
