Vaccine Clinic At Southwest Plaza Expands Capacity

LITTLETON, CO — One of Jefferson County's largest vaccine sites is now offering up to 1,000 doses a day as some employer-mandated coronavirus vaccine deadlines approach. The site, at the Southwest Plaza Mall, is among four large vaccine centers that opened to accommodate a possible surge, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said. Any eligible person can get their first, second or third dose at the surge clinics, which are open seven days a week, public health officials said. "This COVID-19 vaccine location is one of four sites being expanded by our state partners to help ensure convenient access to safe, effective and free COVID-19 vaccines, especially with more and more employers encouraging or requiring vaccines among their workforce," said Dr. Dawn Comstock, executive director, Jefferson County Public Health. "Additionally, the FDA has already authorized a third dose of mRNA vaccine for immunocompromised individuals, and on September 17 the FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee voted in favor of authorizing a third dose for people 65+ and others at high risk for COVID-19. While we are still waiting for official approval from CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices before we can begin administering a third dose to older adults, we expect to share more information very soon."
