NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — FEMA will again be in New Brunswick this Saturday, Sept. 25 so any resident who suffered flood damage should meet with them at the New Brunswick Public Library. The New Brunswick Free Public Library at 60 Livingston Avenue will serve as a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center, announced the city of New Brunswick. Residents and business owners can visit the library from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 25 for help in filing FEMA disaster relief claims or check on the status of a claim they may have already filed. Representatives will be able to provide housing and rental assistance information to residents who suffered flood or other damages. No appointment is needed. FEMA representatives will also canvas parts of the City to offer assistance to residents. If you are a business owner who had flood damage in the city of New Brunswick, you are encouraged to visit the Disaster Recovery Center at the library. Though a representative from the Small Business Administration will not be present, assistance will be offered to business owners in taking the first steps of the claim-filing process. More than 1,000 New Brunswick city residents were evacuated in the Ida flooding Sept. 1 and 2, and 164 people and 24 pets were housed in emergency shelters. New Brunswick police also rescued 50 stranded motorists from cars trapped in floodwater.
