MAPLE SYRUP WORKSHOP When: Saturday, October 2, 2021 - 1:00-4:00 PM Where: Quilcene Host: Olympic Chapter, Rand Hall Location: Quilcene, see directions below Maximum number of participants: 20 Please RSVP to make sure you get a spot! text or call me at . DEADLINE FOR RESERVATIONS: SEPT 25, 8 PM. I will need to know your name and the number of people you are reserving for. Workshop Description: Curious about how to make maple syrup from Bigleaf Maples? This workshop will give you detailed information on tree selection, equipment needed and where to get it, what is needed for sap flow, what to do with the sap once you have it, and other resources. You will leave with a two page handout summarizing what you have learned. (Bring a pen to take additional notes on the handout.) Directions to Workshop Address: 693 Big Leaf Ln, Quilcene 98376 (PS – GPS doesn’t always get you there so follow the directions below). Turn West off of HWY 101 onto Wildwood (paved, marked with a green street sign). This is on the northern outskirts of Quilcene, just before the Little Quilcene Bridge on the way to Sequim. Less than 1/4 mile up Wildwood turn right on the first gravel road you come to, marked with a brown street sign, Big Leaf Lane. Honor the 15 MPH speed limit sign and drive up Big Leaf Lane, a one-lane drive, 3/4 mile to my place, marked with a red 693 sign attached to a tree marking my driveway. The driveway goes left off of Big Leaf Lane. I will be here to direct parking. Clothing: For those that want to see the tubing systems bring hiking boots and suitable clothing (rain or shine) to take a short hike on fairly steep terrain. If you are interested in syrup production from Big Leaf Maple trees but cannot make the Oct. 2 event give me a call, , and I will help you get started. Cheers, Rand
