SAN DIEGO, CA — A 35-year-old man was killed when a teenage driver struck the Link scooter he was driving in the Balboa Park area late Saturday night. According to San Diego police, a 17-year-old girl driving a 2012 Mazda 3 was driving northeast in the 2800 block of Pershing Drive just before 11 p.m. Saturday when she struck the scooter, which was headed in the same direction in the bike lane. The crash occurred in the Balboa Park community of San Diego. The scooter rider was pronounced dead at the scene. It was not immediately known whether the teen driver was arrested or cited.
