Mallet-Wielding Joliet Man Chased After Cat: Prosecutors

JOLIET, IL — The Will County State's Attorney's Office has filed criminal charges against a 27-year-old east side of Joliet resident who is accused of chasing after a cat with a mallet back on Aug. 5. Charges were filed last week against Gabriel Hinojosa, who resides in the 1100 block of Hacker Avenue, which is near Woodruff Road. The charges resulted from a Joliet Police Department investigation into the incident. According to the criminal complaint, Hinojosa "knowingly chased a cat with a mallet in his hand in such unreasonable manner as to alarm or disturb another" person. The person who was disturbed was a minor, prosecutors outlined.
