Description
MALIBU, CA — Friday morning's fatal crash on Pacific Coast Highway (State Route 1) was caused by a driver speeding and running a red light, Lost Hills Sheriff's deputies said.
A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian Friday morning on PCH, and police said Monday the motorist was speeding, ran a red light and hit the pedestrian as he was crossing the roadway.
This incident was just one of many speeding citations over the weekend, deputies said. Deputies said they also stopped a 16-year old driver going 133 mph on PCH, where the speed limit is 55 mph.
"This is a reminder for anyone with young drivers, talk to them about the privileges of driving," the station said in a Facebook post. "Luckily the deputies stopped this teenager before anyone was injured, or killed. Vehicles can be deadly, as we have seen over the past few months."
