This year, for so many reasons, people have sought solace in the outdoors and found a new, or renewed connection with nature. During September and October, the 23 environmental centers that make up the Alliance for Watershed Education of the Delaware River (AWE) will host family-friendly activities as part of the organization's annual River Days festivities, to help bring people together safely for environmentally-focused events. River Days Cleanup at Bristol Marsh Saturday, September 25 Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Heritage Conservancy at Bristol Marsh Meet at 1 Canals End Road, Bristol, PA To celebrate National Public Lands Day, join Heritage Conservancy and partners The Nature Center and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to help keep this important freshwater tidal marsh clean. Volunteers can choose to join crews removing trash from the marsh banks and trails or join DCNR guides with kayaks for a cleanup of the river and marsh. Anyone who is not comfortable with in-person events is encouraged to host a mini clean-up with their own team - For Independent Cleanups: Organize a small group of your choice and pick-up trash on any date between now and September 26th. You may select a location close to your home/office or pick one of our suggested properties and receive a map with property details. The more trash we collect; the less trash will get washed into our waterways! Volunteers must pre-register HERE, complete an attendance waiver, and comply with all procedures designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Register soon because spots are limited. Cleanup materials are available for independent teams. ***All participants must comply with CDC, state, and local procedures designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19 including, but not limited to, wearing a face mask, practicing social distancing, and following proper hand hygiene protocols.
