LIVERMORE, CA — Once every 15 to 20 years, Livermore residents get a chance to make their voice heard and shape the city's future by updating the general plan. This month the city will begin workshops with Livermore residents, businesses and groups as it looks to create a new general plan update, which will impact everything from housing, transportation, parks, jobs, public safety and services, arts programming and more for many years to come, the city said in a statement. "Livermore is consistently recognized as a great place to live, work, and visit and the General Plan Update is the community's opportunity to ensure that we and future generations continue to enjoy all aspects of life in Livermore," said Mayor Bob Woerner in the statement. "We will be reaching out to the community throughout the process, providing many ways to participate. A top priority for the Council for ensuring a successful outcome is an equitable outreach process that allows the broadest range of voices to be heard," he added. The first step of the process is "visioning outreach" and kicks off Sept. 23 with a virtual visioning workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. An in-person meeting will be held Sept. 25 at an outdoor open house from noon to 3 p.m. at the Civic Center Library.
