WESTLAKE, OH — Police repeatedly had to rescue guests staying at the Extended Stay America Hotel last week. According to police reports, the first call for help came at 5 p.m. The rescue squad rushed to the Clemens Road hotel and found an overdosing man in a room. He was given several doses of the opioid overdose reversing drug Narcan and then rushed to St. John Medical Center. Officers found suspected narcotics spread across the hotel room, a Westlake police spokesperson said. Two hours later, at 7 p.m., police were called back to the hotel after a man passed out in the hallway on the second floor. The man awoke before officers arrived and managed to stagger his way to the parking lot. When officers arrived, he was barely conscious, Westlake police said. Live in Westlake? The man was taken to St. John Medical Center. Police believe the man was in the midst of a medical episode. At 9 p.m., police were called back to the hotel. Another man appeared to be overdosing at the hotel — in the same room police had found narcotics in at 5 p.m. Four doses of Narcan were given to the man, police said, before he resumed breathing. He was also taken to St. John Medical Center. Investigators determined another guest at the hotel, a 38-year-old man, was connected to both of the day's overdoses, as well as at least one other overdose. The man was taken into custody, police said. The suspect said he had been living at the hotel for at least a year. He faces charges of corrupting another with drugs and permitting drug abuse. Additional charges could be filed after the case is presented to a Cuyahoga County grand jury.
