DETROIT — Dutch Girl Donuts owner, Gene Timmer, died on Friday at Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi. He was 75 years old. Live in Detroit? Timmer's daughter, Johanna Parrow told the Detroit News that Timmer had cancer for over the past year and a half. Timmer's death comes at a time when Dutch Girl Donuts was recently forced to temporality closed their doughnut shop because of staffing issues. Although the doughnut shop on Woodward Avenue near Seven Mile has been in business for nearly 75 years, the family doesn't know when and if the shop will open again. "I'd love to see what we could do to get it back open again," Parrow told the Detroit News. "But we can't make any promises." Read more via The Detroit News
