RIVERHEAD, NY — Fall will be in full swing soon in Riverhead as an Oktoberfest unfolds during the year's last Rexflections public art show event on Sept. 25.
Plans for Oktoberfest include live entertainment from Who Are Those Guys, a beer stein-holdng contest, a costume contest, German-inspired food from the Seaside Grill, and beer from local craft breweries including North Fork Brewing Co., Peconic Country Brewing, Tradewinds Brewing and Long Ireland Beer Co.
The family-friendly event is free.
From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., Grangebel Park will stay lit for the regular Reflextions Riverhead event.
"Enjoy a leisurely stroll around the park for plenty of Instagrammable moments," organizers said.
According to a website describing the event, Reflextions is a walkable, interactive experience for visitors located in Grangebel Park on Peconic Ave in downtown Riverhead. Reflextions utilizes the park to create a free, accessible public art space; at night the art pieces are illuminated.
"Elements of light include LED, incandescent, fire, blacklight, day glow, and photoluminescent displays. Each Illumination event will include various live performing arts," the description said.
A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 26.
Reflextions is hosted by the Riverhead Business Improvement District and made possible with public funding from Suffolk County and grants from I LOVE NY, Discover Long Island and the East End Tourism Alliance.
