A family member is needing to rehome their dog, who previously was me and my husbands dog. We gave her to a family member since we were moving and weren’t allowed to bring her with us, and things aren’t working out for them. Her name is Maddie and she is a 6 1/2 year old pit bull. We had her for 3 1/2 years, she was completely potty trained and crate trained, amazing with kids, but I would not recommend a home with cats or other dogs. She is too rough with cats and is VERY dog selective. She does pull a lot on a leash so I would recommend a home with a fenced in yard. She also cannot tolerate cheap foods like Purina, Iams, Pedigree, etc as it breaks her skin out, so she is on Diamond Naturals Lamb and Rice. She has been with our family member for almost 3 weeks and is still exhibiting unwanted behaviors. She still has not calmed down (with us she did nothing but lay around all day), she continues to have accidents in their house, and she is chewing their stuff up (she NEVER chewed on anything at our house). She will need to see a vet because she has a spot on her leg she chews open and won’t let heal, and she has also had bouts of diarrhea the past few days. Our family member can’t afford to take her to the vet right now and they are becoming overwhelmed with her behaviors, so she needs a new home ASAP. I have already reached out to the humane society and DASH rescue and neither of them can take her, and our family member does not want her to go to the shelter. She will come with her harness, collar, leash, nail clippers, nail grinder, food and water bowls, and newly opened 25lb bag of dog food. Text or email only!
