NO tax dollars should fund private interests. 2. The tar sands oil that is transported in the Dakota pipeline from Canada to the southern US is the lowest grade oil on earth. Very difficult and expensive to refine in to usable fuel and oil products. 3. Like the majority of this nation, Joe sees the writing on the wall. Fossil fuels are old technology. These oil based fuels are not the future. Bio fuel grown from a variety of crops are the new fuel. Chevron, Shell, BP, Mobil are ALL converting oil refineries into bio fuel plants as we speak. Oil companies see the future and it is not crude oil. Bio fuels are the best thing that happened to American farmers ever. Any crop grown in any climate the contains sugar can become biofuel. Remember, Trump thought bringing back the coal in dusty was wise. Power companies were the ones who moved on from coal. Trump did not do his homework before claiming the would revive the coal industry. This is why he failed at it. Investing in oil pipelines makes no sense. You might as well invest in rotary phones and companies that build horse drawn carriages while you are at it. 15 years from now, gasoline powered cars will be running on pure ethanol (bio fuel). Every gallon of gas already contains a percentage of ethanol right now. There majority of every gallon of diesel sold in the US is bio diesel already. Clinging to the oil industry is like watching g black and white television. There are m much better options out there.
