Description

Join the SF Bicycle Coalition for an historic ride through Golden Gate Park. The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and the SFMTA are teaming up for a timely tour of one of our nation’s greatest parks. This interactive* and leisurely five-mile bike ride through Golden Gate Park will explore the history and origins of the park and how the prioritization of people-centered spaces have helped shape this space since 1901. We’ll visit the Rose Garden, 6th Avenue Skate Park, Marx Meadow, Hellman Hollow, and many other spaces in the park that used to be roadways but have since transformed into open areas for pedestrians, equestrians, picnickers, and people on bikes. The tour will be guided by San Francisco Bicycle Coalition staff and will end at Ocean Beach. Bring your own bicycle along with water, a mask, and a snack. *This tour includes a Google Maps interactive component, which provides participants with a view of historical photos and images. In order to better your experience we recommend downloading our Google Maps Link prior to the event. Route: Begins in the Panhandle (Baker and Fell) and traverses through JFK all the way to Ocean Beach Through day-to-day advocacy, education, and working partnerships with government and community agencies, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is dedicated to creating safer streets and more livable communities for all San Franciscans. Our active members represent San Franciscans of all ages, from all neighborhoods, who are working towards more safe, efficient, and green ways to move around our city. The SF Bicycle Coalition is the largest city-based bicycle advocacy group in the nation and one of the largest membership-based groups in San Francisco. The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition promotes the bicycle for everyday transportation.
