Description
The first New York Comic Con was held in 2006 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Since then, it has grown into one of the biggest and best comic cons, with more than 250,000 in attendance in 2018. William Shatner, George Takei and John Cena headline an all-star, jam-packed guest lineup. Also announced are Adam Savage, Hayden Christensen, Scott Patterson, David Harbour, Erika Harlacher, Steven Strait, Eric Vale, Dee-Bradley Baker, Veronica Taylor, Wes Chatham and Johnny Yong Bosch, with more to come. Artist Alley is a virtual "Who's Who" from the creative field. Some of my favorites include Sara Richard, Ali Cantarella, Dirk Manning, Art Baltazar, Franco, K Lynn Smith, Tom Richmond and way too many more to list. There will be well more than 200 artists displaying their work. Ali CantarellaOf course, there will also be many vendors selling just about everything from the world of pop culture. I am sure to go home with many new items for me place. I am always on the lookout for old school Aquaman stuff and I know I'll find a few things here. FrancoThis will be my first time at the New York Comic Con. I have so many things I want to see, I actually am making daily plans to maximize my time. Sara RichardAside from all the cool stuff associated directly with the con, I look forward to seeing many of my con friends, who will be there. Cons are always like big family reunions. The NYCC presents new opportunities though to meet con friends I only know online. I will finally be able to actually meet them. Dirk ManningI will be staying a few blocks away at the Conrad New York Midtown. Located in the heart of Midtown, the Conrad New York Midtown is an all-suite, luxury hotel. I look forward to resting in comfort and also checking out the beautiful artwork throughout the hotel. It also has the largest 24-hour gym in the area, as well as awesome views of the city. This alone is worth the trip. Tom RichmondNew York Comic Con runs October 7-10. For more info, go to NewYorkComicCon.com. I will be "On the Beat" meeting folks, checking out art and basically immersing myself in the world of comics, superheroes and pop culture. It's going to be amazing and I will report back here after the event. You can also find live updates on my social media accounts. K Lynn Smith
