MON ROVIA - Dark ContinentThe saga of Mon Rovia has been a refreshing spiral of sound and story. Having escaped by grace the civil war of Liberia as a child, there is a deep sense of mission and vocation in Mon Rovia’s music. Mon has a unique story and possesses a distinct gift of exploring life’s dichotomies. In his debut EP, Dark Continent, Mon Rovia creates a sonic experience that is a full on immersion into his world of emotions. Mon has released 5 singles in succession of his 10 song project. His first single, “Taste The Divine,” is a haunting song about acceptance of self despite the worlds preferences. He then journeyed into desperation with his brooding “An endless cycle.” Despite life’s trials, his summer anthem “It All Ends When You Do” is an ode to relentless love. His fourth release, “An Unhealthy Balance” is an acknowledgment that holding on sometimes can be more hurtful than helpful. His fifth single, “Deeper Waters” is an energetic song about “the trials in the darkness that prepare you for the trials in the sun.”All in all, Dark Continent is a range of soundscapes that successfully encapsulates the spirit of Mon Rovia. There’s a world to unpack and more to explore, and with this EP, Mon has taken strong first steps in sharing his journey. The Woodshop is an intimate live music venue and neighborhood pub on the outskirts of the historic St. Elmo neighborhood.  Since 2015, our goal has been to assemble and host a network of musicians and makers who are local to or traveling through the area. With our resources, they are able to create, present, or record their work in front of an appreciative audience.
