Here are the top stories in Albuquerque today: Albuquerque Public Schools are seeing a rise in violence and bad behavior among students. The actions range from fights to shootings, like the one that killed a Washington Middle School student the first week of the school year, and even vandalism fueled by a new social media trend. APS Superintendent Scott Elder says while they don't know exactly why kids are suddenly acting up more, they have their ideas – and need the community's help to stop it. This comes after more than a year of virtual and hybrid learning since the pandemic began. The district believes coming back in person is emotional for students — and they're releasing that emotion in both positive and negative ways. (KRQE News 13) Albuquerque Police have detained a possible suspect in a homicide that occurred Sunday morning in west Albuquerque. APD officers found a male lying in the intersection of 98th Street NW and Central Ave. SW and declared him dead at the scene. (KOAT) Four-year-old Catiana Zepeda was discovered safe Saturday morning by Albuquerque police after not being seen for one week. (KOB) Voya Financial Inc. announced this week that Amanda Kraft, a teacher at New Mexico International School in Albuquerque, has been chosen to receive a $2,000 grant as part of the company's 2021 Unsung Heroes awards competition.
