Description
DANBURY, CT — The city Water Department has warned residents may experience discolored water during some routine maintenance next week.
On Tuesday, workers will be replacing a valve at around 9 p.m. at the West Lake Water Treatment Plant. The plant will remain shut down until approximately 9 a.m. Wednesday. Customers' water supply will not be affected, according to the notice from the city. The Margerie Water Treatment Plant will provide water to all customers during the time the West Lake Plant is offline.
There is a chance that some customers may experience discolored water during the West Lake Plant shut down period due to changes in normal flow direction in some parts of the water system. Residents who experience discolored water are being advised to run cold water tap until it clears, postpone washing clothes, and limit their use of hot water until the cold water clears.
As soon as the West Lake Plant shut down has ended, Water Department crews will be initiating a hydrant flushing program as necessary to alleviate any discolored water that may or may not arise from this shut down. Additional updates, if necessary, will be posted on the city's website.
