Press release from the Dayton Metro Library: Christy Lynne Trotter, Content Writer September 16, 2021 Dayton Salsa Project is comprised of local musicians and Salsa enthusiasts who represent both the growing Hispanic population of Dayton and Salsa music and dance. It is the mission of the Dayton Salsa Project to break barriers and promote inclusion. "We aim to become ambassadors of Dayton's diverse community," co-founder and singer Daryll Rosa states, "by modeling the values of cultural diversity and inclusion, and sharing the rich history of Salsa at local, state, and national cultural events." Rosa, a fan of the Library, volunteered at one time with Dayton Metro Library's Talk Tables program by working with non-English speakers. "I'm thrilled to be working with the Library again," he said, "and to have a chance to talk to our followers about the Dayton Metro Library." "Salsa music and dance are one of many contributions made by the Latino community," Julie Buchanan, Programming Manager for Dayton Metro Library, said. "Enjoying this music is a great way to build community ties, and it's an excellent opportunity to learn about another culture." This outdoor event, sponsored by The Friends of the Library, will be held weather permitting. Registration is recommended so those interested can receive an email notification in the event the concert is cancelled.
