Firefighters From LA Stop Four Spot Fires In Simi Valley Area

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles city and county firefighters Saturday stopped four spot fires along the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway near the Ventura County line, holding the damage to two acres. The fires were reported at 1:25 p.m. along the 118 Freeway at Rocky Peak Road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department's Margaret Stewart. At least one of the brush fires may have started with a car fire, Stewart said. The fires were stopped at 2:04 p.m., she added. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. Ventura County firefighters also assisted, Stewart said. The California Highway Patrol issued a Sigalert at 1:45 p.m. shutting down lanes number 3 and 4 of the 118 Freeway. At 2:30 p.m., lane 2 was added. —City News Service
