TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama says 22 buildings on its Tuscaloosa campus were impacted by flood waters Saturday, as preliminary numbers show 3.5 inches of rain falling on campus in just over an hour. Among the buildings affected include rooms at Doster Hall, Farrah Hall, Reese Phifer and Bureau of Mines. In all, the university says 22 buildings were affected, in addition to some electric power and network service that was impaired but restored a few hours later. As Patch reported Sunday, the historic rain event dropped more that five inches of rain in certain parts of the City of Tuscaloosa, resulting in the death of one man who drowned after his SUV was swept away in flood waters. In Northport, Willowbrook Trailer Park on Hunter Creek Road saw its second major flooding event in four months, following a devastating flood event on June 19.
