Description
Hey there! I’m a 38-year-old Winooski resident. I use a power wheelchair to get around and I spend my days working as a lawyer. I live alone and I hire folks to help me out with virtually all daily personal needs….I can’t get out of bed, go to the bathroom, eat, or open a beer without assistance. I have an active lifestyle; between a demanding work schedule, a fairly active social life, and a close relationship with my family in Montpelier, I’m on the go a lot. I don’t drive, but I do own a wheelchair-accessible minivan that others drive me around in. I don’t require any complex nursing care, so no experience with caregiving is required. But I do look for folks with a bit of an adventurous and "go with the flow" spirit, as the realities of my life aren’t always conducive to strict routine. Consistency and reliability are also of utmost importance.
I hire people to work (generally) regular weekly shifts. I have someone to help me get out of bed on weekday mornings, one or two others for weekend mornings, several folks who work different evenings during the week, etc. But it’s very helpful when people are able to be a bit flexible to accommodate my hectic schedule. Right now, I’m looking for some more help on evenings and weekends, and it would be awesome to find someone who would be willing to travel to Montpelier on occasion when I’m down there with my family.
I start people at $20/hr, and I try very hard to adequately compensate folks for their willingness to travel and be flexible. I report all the wages for tax purposes, and a valid Social Security Number and drivers license are required. I’m fully vaccinated and would hope you are too. Contact me to discuss details about scheduling and everything else.
Oh! Major points if you have a basic comfort using Allen wrenches and other tools! I serve as my own wheelchair mechanic!
