The Ward 8 Artists Townhall is for all artists hosted by the DC Commissions Arts and Humanities panel to advocate for funding. Art is a vital part of black culture - from dance to water colors to music and sculpting. With many artists unable to attain the financial support to grow their brand and showcase their talent sadly a lot of prominent artists go unseen. This townhall is going to serve as hub for all things art and address the issues surrounding Ward 8 artists and other Washington natives from receiving the financial backing they need to be successful. A diverse panel has been assembled by the DC Commission of Arts and Humanities Society and will assist in helping us bridge this gap. Destination Congress Heights is a designated DC Main Street Program by the District Department of Small and Local Business Development. We support retail investment in Congress Heights through retention, expansion of existing businesses, and the recruitment of new businesses.Destination Congress Heights is an extension of the Congress Heights community – we emphasize mutual goals and mutual benefits for businesses and community residents. Partnership and community engagement are essential to reaching positive outcomes from the development process. DCH excels in maintaining an effective collaboration that leads to community success.
