This workshop is for parents who want to learn how to work with their child's school when their child is struggling academically. In the morning session, Steamboat Reading's advocate will help parents understand the different ways that schools support students who are struggling including IEPs and 504 Plans. This session is for parents who are new to the process. The afternoon session Parent Advocacy 102 (separate ticket) is for parents who have a child with an IEP or 504 Plan. Our advocate will support parents in developing their advocacy skills and organizing and understanding the processes and paperwork involved. Steamboat Reading is a 501c3. Some of the tickets for this event are supported by scholarship funding to provide discounted or free tickets so any parent can attend. You can also make a contribution to the scholarship funds when purchasing a ticket.
