This workshop is for parents of a child who have a 504 or IEP in place and want to learn more about the process and develop advocacy skills. This afternoon session is for parents who have a child with an IEP or 504 Plan. Our advocate will support parents in developing their advocacy skills and organizing and understanding the processes and paperwork involved. Bring any paperwork you have to create an IEP/504 Plan information binder. In the morning session Parent Advocacy 101 (separate ticket), Steamboat Reading's advocate will help parents understand the different ways that schools support students who are struggling including IEPs and 504 Plans. This session is for parents who are new to the process. Steamboat Reading is a 501c3. Some of the tickets for this event are supported by scholarship funding to provide discounted or free tickets so any parent can attend. You can also make a contribution to the scholarship funds when purchasing a ticket.
