Description

Our fall Conversation in the Studio series continues with a talk about Schweikher House's general contractor, Emil Sporleder. Jane Rozek, Local History Librarian at the Schaumburg Township District Library presents an in depth look at the Schweikher House carpenter, Emil Sporleder. When Schweikher was given property by L.D. Kern, he turned to Emil Sporleder to construct the masterpiece of a house we see today. While he served as a general contractor, Emil was particularly skilled at woodworking and took delight in fashioning decorative doors, windows, stairways and cabinetry. Emil’s career, like Schweikher’s, later continued outside of Schaumburg Township, as he took on many jobs in Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights. This event will be held OUTDOORS.
