Description
Sacrament of Reconciliation Queen of Apostles Parish (Queen of Angels & St. Matthias) in Chicago offers the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturdays from 9:30 am - 10:00 am at Queen of Angels Church. Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings, those wishing to receive this sacrament must register their attendance. Only 5 people may enter the church at this time to maintain social distancing and sanitize the church following the sacrament, and to make sure the church and the confessor priest will both be ready in time for another event on Saturday morning. To ensure the safety of all parishioners and ministers during this sacrament there will be many new procedures. To prepare for some of the changes you will encounter please carefully read through the list below: You must register to enter the church and receive the sacrament. It will not be possible to enter the church if you have not registered prior to the event. If you have trouble with registration, please call our parish office at 773-539-7510 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Friday for live help from office staff. Please arrive at the front of church 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the sacrament. You will enter through the ramp door on Sunnyside. The Claremont door will NOT be open. Be sure to maintain safe social distance while waiting to enter the church. You will be greeted by a volunteer at the entrance of the church and be checked in via the registration list. To enter the church, you must be wearing a mask, apply hand sanitizer at the door, and not feel sick or have a fever. If you are sick, have symptoms, or are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 due to age or poor health, please protect yourself and others by staying home.Once you are checked in, you will go up the stairs and be greeted by an usher who will escort you to a pew. Please remain in the pew with your mask in place until you are invited up to receive the sacrament. Please refrain from visiting the statues of saints while in church. We especially ask that restrooms at church not be used unless it is an absolute emergency.Confessions will take place in the main church, not in the Reconciliation room at the back. An usher will direct you when it is your turn to leave the pew and receive the sacrament. Please keep your mask in place at all times.Penance should be completed later, not at church, since no one can stay to pray after their confession has ended. After you have completed your confession please exit the church down the side aisles and out the front doors. Do not use the Claremont exit. An usher may give you specific directions on leaving the church.Maintain social distancing and pay attention to floor markings as you move through the church. If you need to wait for a moment to let someone pass wait on a red X. Our aisles are narrow and so are marked for one-way passing. As you move to and from your seat, use the center aisle to approach the altar at the front or a side aisle to approach the gathering space at the back. There will be no Missals or hymnals available in church. You are invited to bring your own devotional material. Please be sure to keep it with you. Please review Tips for Worshipers or Consejos para todos los fieles prepared by the Archdiocese. We would especially like to thank our reopening team for their conscientious work to allow us to return to Queen of Angels.
