The Oakland quartet bring a timeless sound melding elements of doo-wop, classic R&B, garage psych, and surf, drawing comparisons to both golden-era influences like Buddy Holly and the Ronnettes, Ennio Morriconne and garage icons The Seeds. Perhaps a reviewer on punknews.org said it best: "sound of a prom band in 1964 getting dosed with acid and having the sweetest lovelorn freak out. Imagine a brawling Etta James, backed up by the 13th Floor Elevators singing Shangri La's tunes." Hell yes, sign us up. Los Angeles-based Levitation Room are the soundtrack to the roadtrip of your dreams, a love letter to 1960s psych, garage and surf tunes: fuzz, melody, trippy keys and guitar. The band stand out in a crowded scene due to their mastery of the craft, writing hooky tunes that transcend psych nostalgia. Get in the van, we're headed to the beach, to the mountains, through the clouds... New Orleans based Silver Synthetic have concocted a heady mix of 70s classic rock, country, and psychedelia, and they do it so damn well they found themselves signed to Third Man Records. Their new eponymous 2021 LP has been on heavy rotation here, get your ears on it. If you took all our descriptions of the bands above, rolled them up deftly into a perfect spliff and lit it with the fiery vocals of perhaps the best front-woman to come out of Austin, Texas since who-know-who, you'd have something that comes close to describing the incredible Annabelle Chairlegs. --- EARLY SHOW.
