Description
Two day instructor course covering High Risk Stops on pedestrians and vehicles for peace officers.
High-Risk stops are a common patrol event, yet training on them is not. These events can become high-profile if there's a negative outcome. This course is for agency firearms and tactics instructors tasked with teaching these stops. There is classroom work on historical events and best practices, ballistic capabilities demonstration, and walk-throughs. Practical application exercises will cover positioning, interactions, and compliant subjects before concluding with opposed encounters.
The material is based on best practices and compliance with Constitutional mandates.
About the instructor: Erick Gelhaus retired from a northern California sheriff's office, after 29 years, as a patrol sergeant. He worked patrol, gang suppression, narcotics, and field training. Erick has taught firearms & tactics for his agency and has been a Gunsite instructor for 20 years. Along with practical application experience, he has trained on vehicle work with DEA, ITTS, Gunsite, CSAT, Handgun Combatives, and Centrifuge Training.
