Tails of the City has been operating in the Capitol Hill neighborhood for about 1.5 years in our fabulous huge facility. We strive to offer the highest level of care for the dogs that come through our doors, and now we are seeking an employee for about 20+ hours per week to help us accomplish our goals. Our hope is to have the new employee stay with us very long term, and we would love to find someone that becomes a part of the family. Job duties include managing play groups by engaging the dogs in play, reading dog body language in order to facilitate appropriate play between dogs, and maintain group safety and cleanliness. Tasks also include various cleaning duties and facility maintenance. The job environment is fast-paced and physically demanding. Communication with coworkers is a must as well as a positive attitude! Minimum Requirements:* Professional animal care experience* Knowledge of basic positive reinforcement training principles* Excellent interpersonal skills, and customer service experience *Must be able work holidays and weekend shifts* Completion of a pet CPR and First Aid class (the class is provided) *Ability to lift 50+ lbs, and stand for 4.5 hours* Must be comfortable with all breeds and supervising 10-20 dogs in a large play area -- sizes of dogs range from 5 lbs to 150 lbs* Reliable transportation* Must be punctual and show up to work ready to do your job!* Ability to work a variable schedule* Ability to work well in a team environment and effectively prioritize day with little supervision* Ability to follow directions and procedures Please send in a resume and cover letter.
