RAMSEY, NJ — A Mahwah man has died after he was struck by two vehicles on Route 17 in Ramsey this week, NorthJersey.com has confirmed. Erik Eidner, 20, was hit by the vehicles around 1 a.m. near the Wendy's on Route 17, according to the report. Patch has reached out to the Ramsey Police Department for further information on the accident. An online obituary for Eidner, a Mahwah High School graduate and former wrestler who was born in Ridgefield Park, confirmed that he died on Thursday. A former teammate and Eidner's wrestling coach at Mahwah used the platform to remember Eidner. "Erik, you will always be part of the Mahwah wrestling family," wrote Benjamin Wagman, Eidner's former coach. "I still remember your first varsity win against Old Tappan. While as a team we didn't win, everyone was going nuts when you pinned your opponent. You were a superstar that evening, the loss didn't matter, that night was all about you! Gonna miss you buddy. RIP." His former teammate and friend, Joe Kozdra, remembered Eidner's humor. "Erik was a funny guy," he began. "Always was my favorite part about coming to a wrestling practice or match, and was that same funny dude off the mat. He brought such positivity with him where ever he went because of that joker like attitude and accompanying smile." According to the obituary, funeral services and visitation will be held on Monday in Suffern, New York.
