HOBOKEN, NJ — A suspect has been charged in connection with an $18,000 bank heist in Hoboken on Thursday afternoon — the same man who was arrested for attempting to rob a different bank in the same area on July 30, police confirmed. READ MORE: NYC Man Tries To Rob Hoboken Bank Using Note, Police Say Police said that Thursday at 3:07 p.m., they received a call that a man entered Bank of America at Second and Hudson streets and placed a note stating "this is a robbery give me money" on the plastic barrier of the teller's desk. The suspect left the bank with more than $18,000. A description of the person was provided to all police units. The male was last seen walking south on Hudson Street (the police station is located at 106 Hudson St.) Police units converged on the area and began searching. Det. Ryan Houghton proceeded to the train station, three blocks away, where he checked the bus platform. Then he headed to the underground train platform. Once there, Det. Houghton ordered the train operators to close their doors and halt their trains. Upon entering and searching inside the train that heads to 33rd Street in Manhattan, Houghton located Gunter Everton, who matched the description and had a "large visible bulge from his waistband," police said. NJ Transit Officers Marowitz and Ristovski responded to assist Det. Houghton. Police apprehended Everton. "Upon receiving positive confirmation via pictures and testimony, Det. Houghton placed the suspect under arrest," police said. "He was processed for robbery and transported to the Hudson County Corrections Facility." The same reverse-commuter was arrested on Friday, July 30 for allegedly handing a note to tellers at TD bank, demanding money, according to police. He was charged with robbery and terroristic threats at the time. READ MORE: NYC Man Tries To Rob Hoboken Bank Using Note, Police Say Did you know?
