JOLIET, IL — On a beautiful September day with blue skies and temperatures in the low 80s, thousands of Joliet residents packed along Collins Street to watch the Mexican Independence Day parade. The parade featured hundreds of horses and several floats.
Joliet Mayor Bob O'Dekirk walked in the parade, and several Joliet police officers were on hand to help with crowd control and to block off traffic along a several block stretch of Collins Street while the parade took place.
Joliet Patch was on hand to capture the incredibly popular community event.
Because some stories are better told with photos than with words, Joliet Patch's editor put together this gallery showcasing at least 20 photos from Saturday's 1 p.m. event.
