CARSON, CA — A magnitude 4.3 earthquake rattled the Los Angeles and north Orange County areas Friday night. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was epicentered near Carson. The quake struck at 7:58 p.m. at a depth of just over 9 miles. It was a quick, rolling quake. The quake struck eight-tenths of a mile east-southeast of Carson at 7:58 p.m., the Caltech Seismological Laboratory reports. There were no immediate reports of injury or damage. Residents reported feeling shaking as far south as Irvine and as far north as the San Fernando Valley. "The moment magnitude is 4.3. The focal mechanism shows a strike-slip at 15 km depth," tweeted Seismologist Lucy Jones. "Current estimate is M4.4. Location is just north of the 1933 Long Beach zone."
