TUSCALOOSA, AL — A search has been suspended for the evening after Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue and police recovered a vehicle at Greensboro Avenue and 24th Street following heavy rain and flash flooding across much of west Alabama

TFR spokeswoman Holly Whigham confirmed the motorist was not with the vehicle and had been reported missing, which prompted a search after the SUV was found in a drainage ditch in the 2400 block of Greensboro Avenue.

Crews are expected to regroup in the morning to continue the search.
Whigham also said TFR has responded to just short of two-dozen calls due to weather during the afternoon alone.
The investigation is now being handled by the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
