I’m finding that a lot of people are struggling to find work that pays well and thinking that they need to do things they don’t want to do or figure out how to go to college. I wanted to share my life experience someone is not aware of temp agencies. Temp agencies are all around every city (just do a Google search or call 211) and their job is to get you a job. There are many entry level jobs requiring no experience. If you can file paperwork in alpha numeric order and if you can answer a phone, you can get your foot in the door to a company that will, at least eventually, pay you at least $20 an hour. You do not need a college education. Many companies seek to hire temporary workers full-time after testing them out. You can specifically ask for those jobs. If you really do just want temporary work, don’t worry, that is a good way to find the type of office place and job you would prefer. Temp agencies will help you write your résumé, allow you to use their computers to learn Word, Excel, Outlook through tutorials for free. If you have any sort of limitations or fears, you can let them know that and they will work with you. If you get to a company you don’t like, just let the agency know and they will send you somewhere else. They work for you! You are not confined to McDonald’s, door dash, physical labor or any other kind of work for unskilled laborers. After high school, I went from being a receptionist and file clerk, to data entry, to being taught how to operate in the accounting department for both accounts receivable and accounts payable. That lead to becoming a billing and collections rep, and after leaving the insurance world, I ended up in the biotech industry. Never did get a college degree. All you need is transportation and a winning attitude. People want to show you how to do things. They will have to do that whether you have a degree or not. What they really want to know is who you are and how you will add to the company with your specific abilities and personality. It counts for more than you know and can lead to a very high-paying job depending on your goals and interests.
