Description
Introverted experienced musician seeks others looking for a real project in the Eugene area.
I have gear and transportation.
Unfortunately I don't have a practice space right now, but I'm willing to chip in a significant amount for a Space Eugene spot if one opens up, or another situation.
I am looking to do a pretty specific thing, but I enjoy a lot of different material. If you're a jazz musician tired of playing standards, don't be afraid to reach out.
I'm looking to take classic funk grooves and/or afrobeat rhythms and basically slow them down to stoner rock/doom metal tempos, incorporate aesthetics of these heavier styles, and build in the potential for improvisation (solos AND song forms).
Lyrics? Fuck, I don't know--I could try some weird spoken word-type stuff about landscapes or food to start things off, or, if you have a great voice, go for it! Screaming? thunderous bellowing? Sure. I love the high black metal screams, and I respect people who can get to those cacophonous death metal lows. Grunge? No, sorry, I don't care for it.
I live to play live and have experience gigging in the Seattle area, yet hanging out in a bar with no goal is not my most comfortable space. I'm more at home outside in the trees, or in a room practicing with a band that's trying to create something unique and lasting
Instrumentation:
Seeking a drummer for sure
Guitar
Bass
Keys
Horns?
I play guitar and bass primarily but can fill in the drum spot pretty proficiently
Gear: I just got a real loud fender hot rod deville amp, I have two guitars, one bass, only a small bass combo amp that'd be fine for practice, mics for recording, and only pieces of a drum kit at present, but with one great ride cymbal that can cause a storm
