She then slammed “cancel culture” in the US, comparing it to what’s happening in “communist China.” The Trinidadian-born rapper stood by her earlier stance to question government authority when it comes to vaccination — doubling down on how suppression of free speech is becoming a norm for those trying to speak their mind. “But you can’t innocently ask questions about something going on in your body?” Minaj said. “I remember going to China and they were telling us you cannot speak out against the people in power there, et cetera, and I remember all of us thinking, oh, ok, we understand and we respect the laws here and that it’s so different from where we live,” she continued. The rapper then warned against “cancel culture” and how it is impacting free speech in America. “Don’t y’all see what’s fucking happening?” the rap artist said. “Don’t y’all see that we are living now in that time, where people will turn their back on you for not agreeing? People will isolate you if you simply speak and ask a question,” she added.
