Description
The Houseman Supervisor is a working supervisor, leading a team of Banquet Houseman and participating with them in the preparation, set-up, service, tear-down and clean-up of all types of private and club events. He or she will maintain an awareness of the status of operations throughout the department, while being personally accountable for the team’s execution to ensure service standards are met and member satisfaction is achieved before, during and after private and club events. The Houseman Supervisor is capable of understanding and explaining all instructions to the Houseman including floor plans and banquet event orders, and supervising their execution according to all safety, sanitation and performance standards. He or she will ensure all HCC property is used according to manufacturer’s guidelines, handled and stored to prevent damage and minimize wear and tear. In addition, the HS will take a leadership role in maintaining the glass, china, silver and linen inventories of the club. A team player, the Houseman Supervisor will be an effective communicator with a passion for leading and coaching Team Members and possess ability to keep multiple managers and departments in Food and Beverage informed. He or She will provide ongoing feedback on performance and participate as requested in the training, disciplining and evaluation of the Housemen. Must be able to stand for long periods of time; lift and carry up to 50 lbs. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school graduate level education 2. Previous experience in a similar luxury environment 3. Experience moving heavy items safely 4. Able to supervise and resolve problems quickly and effectively using good judgment; motivate and inspire team members to work to their maximum potential 5. A passion for training and developing, coaching and counseling of team members 6. Able to work independently with minimal supervision; organize and prioritize, think clearly and remain calm under pressure 7. Available for either day or evening shifts including weekends and holidays 8. Able to read, understand and interpret Banquet Event Orders and floor plans 9. Able to listen to, understand and communicate effectively with all stakeholders in English, with Spanish-language skills strongly preferred 10. Able to effectively use a handheld radio throughout shift 11. A true team player, able to work well with others 12. A punctual and reliable proactive self-starter, able to multi-task 13. Exceptional grooming habits, maintaining a clean and complete uniform as designated by management 14. Possessing of a service-oriented personality; warm, friendly and outgoing without being overbearing
