Do you play guitar? Do you like Bluegrass music? Are you having trouble understanding the ins and outs and methods/techniques for getting the right "feel" and "sound" for Bluegrass guitar? I can help you! Whether you're just getting into the music or have been playing Bluegrass for some time and feel like there is something missing in your playing, I can help guide you to the next level in your development as a Bluegrass guitar player. This is a very challenging and rewarding style of guitar playing and there are certain ways to get that "sound" you hear on recordings of classic Bluegrass by the greats. Also if you are interested in how to play flat pick guitar solos on the guitar and have been excited by the styles of Clarence White, Tony Rice, Doc Watson or Norman Blake, I can help you with that as well. From basic melody playing to fiddle tunes to "crosspicking" (like George Shuffler of the Stanley Bros.) I can show you how to do it! I play various styles of guitar from Bluegrass to Blues and Rock but Bluegrass was a formative style for me for many years. I can teach you: 1. Basic to advanced bluegrass guitar rhythm techniques 2. Simple and effective lead melody solo playing 3. More advanced solo flat picking of fiddle tunes and song melodies 4. "Crosspicking" techniques for song melodies and tunes My name is Evan Morgan and I have been a professional guitar player for 30+ years and have played in bands with Stuart Duncan and Roland White as well as toured/recorded with the "New Riders of the Purple Sage" (you can hear me on their CD "Midnight Moonlight"). Additionally I have played with local Bay Area bands such as "High Country" and the "Lonesome Holler Stringband". I am accepting students who have some guitar playing experience, a basic knowledge of rhythm and chords and preferably some familiarity with Bluegrass music. Lessons will be given at 'People's Music Store' at 122 N. Main st. Sebastopol, Ca. The tuition fees are (per month): $140.00 ($35 each for four 1/2 hour lessons paid at beginning of each month). $200.00 ($50 each for four 1 hour lessons paid at the beginning of each month). I am offering an introductory (new students) price of: Four 1 hour lessons for $175.00 ($25 discount for the first month) or: Four 1/2 hour lessons for $130.00 ($10 discount for the first month).
