Do you have criminal conviction in Colorado?

Description

Would you benefit from an expunged record? Or as the judicial system calls it, "collateral relief of the consequences of the defendant's conviction"?? Well, you are eligible if your conviction did NOT cause bodily harm to your victim, it would relieve you from the stigma of a criminal record & possibly give you access to vital components of a secure life such as access to public housing, attaining a good job, certain places will not rent to you with a criminal history, your ability to carry a firearm, vote, serve on a jur, get any sort of professional licence, and even get federal funding to go to college, not to mention the shame you must feel in the back of your mind... if you served your sentence and fulfilled your responsibilities to the community, you deserve to be free from a LIFETIME of judgment & denial of access to essential components of a structured, happy life, you deserve it in fact. In a Briefing Before The United States Commission on Civil Rights on June 2019, in a statement of Commissioner David Kladney, He expressed the same sentiments as I hold such as "The way we treat people with criminal convictions after they return to their communities is in need of serious reevaluation." and that although a law was passed giving criminals the ability to File an Application for An Order of Collateral Relief post-conviction, how are they supposed to KNOW if nobody tells them? Unless you have the means for a private lawer or a girlfriend who reads over your court papers meticulously (as I did lol) how is one to know that they even have the OPTION to get their record expunged post-conviction? It will cost anyone eligible (and most convicted criminals are) a 35$ court filing fee (unless they are proved indigent) and the cost of getting a fingerprinted background check for information for your specific area You can contact the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at ., a small price to pay for your freedom and privacy!! You will need to "FILE AN APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER OF COLLATERAL RELIEF" with the courts, here is a pdf with all the instructions for Colorado: https://www.courts.state.co.us/Forms/PDF/JDF%20237%20Instructions%20for%20Application%20for%20Collateral%20Relief.pdf and there are "Self help Centers inn just about every courthouse, here is a list of all of them for Colorado: https://www.courts.state.co.us/userfiles/file/Self_Help/Contact%20list%20for%20public(16).pdf I AM NOT A LEGAL REPRESENTAIVE OR EXPERT!! I am just someone who loves someone very much who was recently convicted of a crime & at the very end of one of his lengthy court reports, i saw this in small lettering: "each defendant may, at the time of conviction or at any time thereafter, apply to the court for an order of collateral relief of the consequences of the defendant's conviction pursuant to the provisions of ยง18- 1.3-107, C.R.S: Not having a clue what that meant, I looked it up, and discovered that he has more freedom availabl;le to him & I looked up how and so on and I am so happy that he has this option available, I hope other people can find this information and get ALL the rights that are available to them. I believe that the courts should ACTIVELY inform all convictees of this option, makes me very sad that they dont, this was the only way I could think of to get this information "out there" like I said I am NOT an expert and I am not offering any sort of service, I'm just a person who cares about people, if you feel the need you may email me and I will do my best to answer any question or point you in the right direction, but like I said, I'm just a person and I by no means an authorized to give legal advice. I wish you the best and please, pass on this information, it could change someones entire life..
