Description

It has been two long years since we last celebrated Cantillon Zwanze together and we can't wait to do it again! Due to circumstances beyond our control, this years Zwanze celebration at Armsby Abbey will be held on MONDAY, September 27, 2021. We know most of the world will be celebrating on the Saturday prior, but with Covid protocols in place and the city mask mandate in Worcester we had to think outside the box. We hope you understand. On this day we will celebrate the highly anticipated release of Cantillon Zwanze 2021 "Parasol" at Armsby Abbey. Arguably the most anticipated release in the World of beer, Zwanze is ONLY available on tap at select locations worldwide. We at Armsby Abbey are elated to again be hand-picked by Cantillon’s Jean van Roy for the 10th year in a row as one of only 28 locations in the USA (82 locations worldwide) to pour Zwanze 2021. "This year’s Zwanze beer is a blend of different citrus fruits (80% orange, 15% kumquat and 5% cedar). As usual for this kind of beer, we worked with 300 grams of fruit per liter. It is a very fresh beer with a nice balance between the bitterness of the orange and the delicate acidity of the cedrat/citron. Despite the very fruity side of the beer, the Lambic is very present and goes very well with the citrus. This is a real summer beer, thirsty, refreshing and easy to drink. That's one of the reasons why we called our Zwanze of this year Parasol."  Our Zwanze celebration, as always, is a ticketed event. This year will be very different then years past. There will be no fancy glassware, banners, or custom t-shirts. No tent or oyster station. We are keeping it simple and 100% al a carte. Eat and drink as little or as much as you want. The cost of your ticket includes one pour of the oh so expensive Cantillon Zwanze 2021 Parasol which we will be pour & toast together at 8pm. In addition to Zwanze 2021 Parasol, we will be pouring Cantillon Zwanze 2020 Brettrave, Camerise, Magic Lambic, Nath, Saint Lamvinus, and Vigneronne. You will also be able to purchase Cantillon flights with 4 - 4oz pours! As if that wasn't enough, we will also have the following on draft: Tilquin Oude Quetsche, Girardin Oude Lambic, St Louis Kreik, Hill Farmstead Civil Disobedience 27, Jester King No Whalez Here, Fox Farm Avalonia Black, and Oxbow Low Bush. Limited selections by the bottle will include Trillium Spontaneous Blend #2, Drie Fonteinen 2017 & 2018 Cuvée Armand & Gaston, and Jester King Biere de Miel, Bitter Death, La Vie en Rose, and Provenance Tangerine/Blood Orange. Our kitchen will be open from 6pm-9pm offering up an assortment of Zwanze inspired specials like Moules Frites, Belgian Waffles, Brioche Tartine, and Armsby Mac & Cheese, along with all the Farmstead cheese and Charcuterie you could desire! COVID PROTOCOL: Armsby Abbey will be closed to the public on this evening. All guests attending our Zwanze celebration must be fully vaccinated and possess a Covid vaccination card stating such. Monday, September 20, 2021 at 7PM EST. Is there a limit per purchase on tickets? Yes; this year because of Covid, we are limiting ticket sales to 4 tickets per person in hopes we can sell tables at a time. Be mindful though. Please talk to your friends in advance. Do NOT hit purchase before confirming your friend has not also bought 4 tickets. You will have 15 minutes in the sales screen (way more than the usual 7 minutes) to complete your purchase. As far as re-selling pairs of tickets or a table of tickets goes after the fact, given the 7 day event window, it is not realistic we can help you, and we make no promises that it will be possible to resell your extra 4+ tickets. How much will each ticket cost? $15 per person plus the Eventbrite processing fee of $2.55 per ticket. How can I purchase tickets? Tickets will be available on a first come basis via Eventbrite ONLY until they are sold out.  Do I have to bring my printed ticket to this event? Yes. All guests will need to check in with the host at the main entrance of Armsby Abbey. A downloaded copy of your ticket(s) to your Apple wallet works too. Is there an age requirement for this event? As required by the City of Worcester and the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverage Commission, all guests will be required to show proof of identification upon check-in of the tent. No guests under the age of 21 years will be allowed entry. Parents, please know, this applies to your littles; no babies or children are permitted. Do I need to bring proof of identification? Yes. All guests will need to verify their identity and age upon check-in. A valid state issued driver’s license or passport will be required. No exceptions. If I need to cancel for any reason are these tickets refundable? No. Tickets are non-refundable. If anyone should need to cancel and there is a wait list, which there generally is, we can refer you to the next available person to transfer your ticket to independently. How many guests will be in attendance at this event? We are capping ticket sales at 80 adults to maintain a limited capacity due to Covid. Are designated drivers allowed access to Armsby Abbey without a ticket? Unfortunately, no. We are spatially limited to the 80 ticketed guests only.  Where should I park? There is ample parking on street at the meters (you do not have to pay after 5pm) or within the 146 Armsby lot which can be utilized by our customers on weekends and after 6PM daily; this lot is adjacent to the former Elwood Adams Hardware with a small guard shack upon its entrance. Please be courteous and use common sense when parking in any area of downtown Worcester. Lock your doors and never leave valuables within eyesight. Armsby Abbey has become one of the top craft beer destinations in the world since opening it's doors a decade ago in 2008.
